Just some thoughts and ideas going around in my head while trying to figure out where I am and where everyone else is going.

One of my Guilty Pleasures

Nothing here but a quick morning shout out.

I have a bunch of guilty pleasures, some of which have gotten me into trouble now and again. But one of them only keeps me up late late because I always have to watch it from start to end when ever it's on and that is Sweeney Todd. For some reason I just can't get enough of it on TV. Sure it's about crime, revenge, blood lust and cannibalism, and it's hokey and corny but I always get so much more out of it.

For me it's about unrequited love, longing for it but never really getting it. The love of a good life, a good partner, family or even a good business and or occupation that you can be proud of. It's about wanting something and coming so close to it but never being able to hold on to it.

Anyway as Rod Serling used to say, "Submitted for your approval..."

  1. You are not alone brotha...I like this too. But then musicals in general are a guilty pleasure for me...LOL. I think my favorite part is near the end when he realizes he killed his wife.

    I'm a big Johnny fan anyway though. Something sexy about that dark stringy hair of his and those eyes. lol

  2. Miss Mahogany - That part at the end is good, but it's just a culmination of everything that lead up to that point for me. I don't think it's anywhere near as good as when the boy is singing nothing's gonna harm you to Mrs Lovett or when the sailor is looking for Joanna and Mr Todd is slicing and dicing his clients while they both sing.

    I'm trying to think what are my guilty pleasures... I'll have to get back to you on that.

  4. RunningMom - You don't know what you're missing. Sweeney Todd is one of the classics in English literature. So there's a little blood now and again. I swear by the time you've seen the 4th or 5th throat cut you won't even notice it.

  5. I love when Mrs.Lovett suggest making people into meat pies. Why did I think that was the funniest idea ever? Okay I'm going to stop being a cheese about this movie now. LOL

    @running mom
    This is by far not really scary more suspenseful than anything
